Brief: Design a Smartphone-Based Compact Virtual Reality Headset based on an established brand

Timeframe: 14 Weeks

The Brand I selected for this project was Grado Labs, a manufacturer of Audiophile headphones.

I selected Grado because of their emphasis on materiality and minimalism. Most products within this market segment are highly stylized for a more hardcore gaming market segment so I wanted my design to stand apart from that, using raw aluminium and timber as major structural components. I also wanted the entire product to be totally disassemblable without tools and so I used the strap as the primary element holding the entire design together through compression.

Initially a controller was intended to be packaged but time constraints made it difficultto get a full CAD model done.
